Science Time

Yesterday and today we are talking about plants. Nicole brought a marigold today for science. Yesterday Luke brought an ear of corn and part of a soybean plant. Some plants have moss growing around them. A lot of plants are cool. Some plants are big and some plants a little. Cale discovered some trees have sap on them. Our homework was to look at a plant for two minutes and see the parts. Heather brought a squash and another vegetable that Mrs. Riggs isn't sure about the spelling. It wasn't in our dictionary. So far we have been talking about plants in science. Some plants have fungus. Today we are going on a plant hunt. We'll let you know what we find tomorrow. We like science.

Plants are one of my favorite living things; they are AMAZING. I LOVE hostas. They are plants that grow very well in places that are shady. There are many, many varieties of hostas; some are very small and some are huge!! Gardening is a hobby of mine and it is so much fun to work in my garden! Plants are miracles of nature. Study hard and do your best! Laura Stuetelberg, a friend of Nicole's.

It sounds like you are having a great time in science. Austin is bringing a zucchini tomorrow to share before we turn it into bread! Feel free to cut it in half to see the inside. Have a Happy Friday!

I was thinking about the bug Zeke brought to school last week and it reminded me of something. Did you know that some plants eat bugs? They are called "carnivorous" plants. A Venus Flytrap is an example.

Science is fun. I enjoy reading about what you are learning. Keep up the good work!
